Stardew Valley creator's next game is an adorable chocolate shop sim

In a surprisal reveal today, Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone announced his next game Concerned Chocolatier, a shop sim or so running a spooky chocolate shop and living in a haunted rook. We've been waiting for age to hear what Barone would work happening incoming afterward disbursal such time developing stellar free updates to his farm life pretending. The big annunciation has now been divided and I can't wait to hear to a greater extent about what he has planned for an equally adorable new game.

Barone has been talking in undefined terms active working on a new game for years now. His late comments about his potential next projects indicated that he likely wouldn't cost working on a direct Stardew continuation merely that it might embody related in some style or even take place in the same world.

"I've been deliberately secretive about it because I want to make up able to work on that without some pressure for the time being," Barone said about his next project back in a 2018 devblog. "I as wel want to take in sure the concept is full realized before indicatory anything, because once it's away in that respect, I'm releas to have to fully put to it."

With today's annunciation, it definitely looks like atomic number 2's sticking to Stardew's universe, but headed for a new sort of simulation. Contempt that though, Barone says "I'm non fix to reveal anything comparable that just yet," on whether information technology unquestionably takes place in the same world.

"With my adjacent game, I wanted to explore more unreal possibilities…experiences that strike you on the far side the ordinary bicycle. That's where magical haunted ghost chocolate comes in," Barone says in an proclamation post for Haunted Chocolatier.

Haunted Chocolatier is a "townsfolk game," Barone says, like Stardew in that it will involve vibrating to a unprecedented place and erudition a new trade while getting to know all your new neighbors. Unlike Stardew, he says that it's more of an action-RPG—and of run over revolves around a chocolate denounce instead of a farm.

Barone says helium doesn't know exactly how to key out the game just yet. "Merely at its core, the gameplay loop involves assembly ingredients, making chocolate, and running a chocolate shop."

Over in the FAQ page for Haunted Chocolatier, Barone goes into some additive details about his adjacent game. Atomic number 2's been working on Haunted Chocolatier for about a year instantly and isn't ready to intrust to a release go steady for it yet Eastern Samoa it's still early in development. It will definitely be on Personal computer, and he has "every intention" of also bringing it to other platforms. Unlike Stardew though, the burnt umber shop sim won't be multiplayer.

Now that Barone is completely wrapped up and ready to dea, I'm excited to see where he goes with a slightly antithetical genre of sim.
